About AEROTECT

Built by people who fly themselves

AEROTECT grew out of the daily practice of professional drone operations in the Netherlands. Anyone who flies under a permit knows exactly what a drone broadcasts and where the gaps in oversight are. That knowledge is built into the DRID.

The team

Who you get at the table

AEROTECT is small and stays that way for now. For a quote, an installation or a fault you speak to the same two people. There is no account manager in between who has to go and ask the engineers.

  • Joris Binnema

    Joris Binnema

    Co-owner

Joris has flown professionally under permit for years and knows the permit process from the inside. He handles the conversations with municipalities, safety regions and police, and works out with the customer where the units go.

  • Lars Temming

    Lars Temming

    Co-owner

Lars builds the receiver and the platform, from the firmware that reads all four Remote ID transports at once to the map and the API your control room integrates with. Questions about the offline variant or an integration reach him.

Why AEROTECT

From permit applications to detection

At large events we kept hearing the same question: can you also see who else is flying? Security staff, municipalities and police had a drone ban written into the permit, but no means to enforce it.

Existing detection systems were built for airports and defence, with prices and lead times that do not fit a three-day festival. At the same time, Remote ID became mandatory in Europe, so every regular drone started broadcasting its identity and position.

So we built a receiver that captures exactly those signals, on all four transports, and that is up on a mast within the hour. In 2026 we deployed the DRID at four of the largest public events in the Netherlands.

Principles

What we hold ourselves to

  • Receive only

The DRID transmits nothing and interferes with nothing. Intervention is for the authorised agencies. We provide the picture.

  • Honest about range

We state the conditions under which the 7.5 and 15 kilometres were achieved and advise on placement. A nice brochure figure does not help you on the day itself.

  • Data in Europe

Platform and storage run within the EU. You decide how long observations are kept.

  • Available when it happens

Events happen at weekends and in the evening. So do our support and on-call service.
